About Me

I am Charity Blaine and this is A Lovely Little World.

Two of my favourite things in life are libraries and photography. Somehow, I am blessed enough to actually get to work as both a photographer and an assistant librarian, despite the fact I studied History and Education in university. I use my blog to share the places I visit, the Art I create, and the people and things that inspire me. I am a born-again Christian and aside from my faith, I'm passionate about promoting community pride and ending teen and child abuse and poverty (ETCAP). I have always loved to document events and moments, and a blog is a perfect way to do that.  I am interested in extremes; hardship and also beauty, as well as the moments of hope and compassion that happen simultaneously with the hardship.
In case you’d like to know a little bit more about me and my approach to photography and Art, I thought I would detail it here. I call my style “Barefoot Photography” in part, because I love to wander around without shoes. The less literal explanation is however, I like my creations to be simple and personal. I use bright, natural light and enjoy cosy and colourful items. I love all things handmade. I frequently photograph flowers and landscapes, but my favourite type of photography goes hand-in-hand with History; the subject I studied in University; documentary photography.
Aside from photography, I enjoy writing, reading, cross-stitch and collecting. My collection includes post cards, snail mail, vinyl toys, and Indie Art. My pet rabbits are Nelson Mandela and Weetzie Bat and I also have a furry, fat guinea pig named Mila. I run a photography club for local teenagers.  My inspiration comes from music and movies, from what I read, and obviously from other Artists. One of my favourite things to do is flip through Art and photographs to see the beautiful work of the talented Artists, who created through past generations until the current day.
See beauty in everything and always be kind.

In case you're interested, I'm including a link to my flickr set of silly self-portraits.
I post most of my life on flickr rather than on facebook, but I have a facebook page here.
My official website is at this location.
Also, if you'd like to know my life history and my opinions on various topics, your best bet is to scroll through the posts here.

I also occasionally blog photography tips, you can check them out here.
